I received this message from Jesica Trees who is looking for her brother. If anyone knows this individual would you please pass this message on and/or contact either Jesica or her Dad directly.

"My name is Jesica Trees, I live in Portland, Oregon. Early this year I spoke with my brother James Trees, Jr., and at that time he was living in Tijuana. Our families have had trouble reaching him, with repeated attempts via phone and email. His birthday recently passed, and although I called and sang happy birthday to him on his voice mail, it wasn't quite the same as actual contact. We miss him, and hope very much that he is okay. If you know my brother, I hope you can pass this sentiment along, and urge that he get in touch with his sister or his dad (he only has one of each). Thank you in advance for reading this, hopefully we'll get in touch soon.

Outfitted and supported by Blue Waters Kayaking — with over 20 years experience in Baja — these 5- and 8-day tours include whale watching, sea kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, healthy mostly-organic meals, and much more. Led by Blue Waters' expert naturalist kayaking guides, no experience is necessary, and all activities — including kayaking — are optional. Open to men and women of all ages and abilities.

These journeys are being offered in the winter of 2007 at both Magdalena Bay — where the Gray Whales are born — AND at a secluded Eco-Resort on the Sea of Cortez.

I'm about to go to Baja for some travel for about three weeks starting next Monday (Dec 26 - Jan 12).

I am going to fly to san diego and then bus / trolley over border.

I have a few questions that I am hoping you might have time to answer.

TENT CAMPING
I want to camp and am planning to take a tent.
I heard all beaches in Mexico are public and that you can camp on them.
Is tent camping a realistic thing to count on?
What about palapas. Are they everywhere?
I don't want to stay in a hotel.

TRAVEL BY BUS
I am planning to travel 100% by public bus.
Any tips?

HITCHIKING
bad idea?

WHALE WATCHING
My "destination" is san ignacio lagoon to be around the whales for a bit.
Any knowledge of organizations there that are preservation oriented - by this I mean - "respect for whale in natural habitat"

LANGUAGE SCHOOLS
I thought I'd spend a day in ensenada at a language school with a private tutor. What do you know about these schools. A few are listed in the internet and also in my travel book.
Heard any stories about them or know anyone who would be interested in tutoring me for 3 - 4 hours in conversational spanish?

HIKING / NATIONAL PARKS
know any good ones I might want to see?

Thanks in advance . . . I am on break from teaching at City College here in SF and am in need of sun, nature, adventure and peace.

Never been to Mexico but have lived n the mission for 8 years and am psyched to finally go!
I'm down here to work on a film project as a Neuro-Linguistics Consultant.I'm also a Certified Hypnotherapist and have set up a humble practice in the La Mission/Rosarito area. I may decide to stay here after my work on the film is complete. I guess it depends on how things go.

Hello all... My girlfriend and I are driving down to Baja Dec 20-Jan. 2. It's our first time to Baja although I've been all over the rest of Mexico. This will also be my first time taking a car into Mex. I would sooo appreciate any advice on hidden gems along the way, places not to miss, places to avoid, logistics with having a car, good places/ways to car camp etc etc. Mostly we are hoping for some epic beautiful beaches, warm waters, a place to sip margaritas under a beach-side palapa, maybe a little backcountry adventure of some sort.
Not sure if we want to go all the way to the tip, or just save the gas money and time and get comfy somewhere along the way. Is it worth it??
Much appreciated,
Jack

When we built our house down here, we designed it with a floor plug in the middle of the greatroom floor so I could have a reading lamp by my chair without having the cord running across the room. When we did our first building check after the floor was poured, they had the conduit and wire sticking up nicely from the center of the floor. When we did our second check, there was a nice new outlet right where it should be. When we did our final inspection, it had been nicely covered up with my new saltillo tile !

So, our friends are building a garage with a room above it and they wanted a floor outlet in the second story room. I told them about our experience and some of the other weird things that happened while building our house. So they duly inspected it at each stage. They had to go to El Centro one day and came home to find the contractor had poured the concrete for the second story floor - - - you guessed it, right over the outlet.

He insisted he had to have his outlet and nagged the contractor for days about chipping out the concrete over the outlet but they didn't know exactly where the outlet was. So the contractor stalled and stalled, but he finaly came up with this unique typically Baja solution: He went up on the second story, poured water into the electrical conduit and went down stairs to the garage and watched to see where it dripped down from the ceiling ! Only in Baja!

My heart is still pounding. This afternoon, like many afternoons, I set out on a walk across the desert with my little Jack Russel PITA dog (Pain-In-The-Ass). Have been doing this ever since I moved to the Baja. Being able to run unleashed out here is one of his biggest joys.

He flushed a coyote and my heart stopped. He took off on that coyote's heels like a bat out of hell. This was no scroungy coyote either, this was a big, fat, healthy looking one. I thought sure that coyote was gonna turn around and tear him to shreds. I was running as fast as I could just trying to keep them in sight (and that is a visual you're better off without!). He was on that coyotes heels until I lost sight of them and stopped to listen. I didn't hear any yelping so I continued on in the same direction they went, yelling for Buckley the whole time, which, if you know Jack Russels, was totally wasted breath. Even if they coyote had him, I wouldn't have been able to get Buckley away unless maybe I could have smashed him (the coyote) with a rock. So, I'm running and panting and crying and yelling his name, imagining the worst. Finally I saw a glimpse of white off in the distance and headed towards it...there was Buckley, panting and sniffing trying to find the coyote's scent...

I am still shaking and panting. I suppose if the coyote had turned around and snarled, Buck would have taken off running back to me - but you can never know for sure with JRTs.

He faced down a bear one time when we still lived in Washington but that's a story for another time. Would someone please tell this dog he does not weigh 300 pounds.
